According to Wikipedia, the Jantar Mantra or Jantar Mantar as it is also known is a 'equinoctial dial'. At first one is struck by the beauty of this structure and thoughts of modern art and architecture but in fact the Jantar Mantra is an observatory. It was built by Sawai Jia Singh as a means to measure time and is still to this accurate to half a second.
Completed in 1929 at a cost of 1,253000 Stirling, the Rashtrapati Bhawan is a palace like no other. It is situated in the grounds of 130 hectares of beautiful parks and other structures.

The spectacular Qutab Minar is one of the most special and unique monuments in India and some say the world but it's origins are somewhat of a mystery and controversy. Some say it was built as a mark to the new rule of the Muslims in India
Another fabulous India fort, the Purana Qila again with a great deal of history and also, if you have the time, worth a visit.
