Hi My name is Rebecca and I am doing a school project and need to know where is the Ganges river. I know it is in India but I need more details.
I would really appreciate your help with this question :-)
Hi Rebecca, it is a good question but difficult to answer because of the long length of the Ganges.
The Ganges river is in the North of India and comes from the Himilayas. it drains into the sea at the Bay of Bengal.
I have outlined the route of the Ganges river below:
Step 1 Uttarakhand (state + Start)
Step 2 Kanpur, Soron, Kannauj, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Ghazipur,Bhagalpur (towns)
Step 3 Through the Rajmahal Hills
Step 4 Mirzapur, Ballia, Buxar, Saidpur and Chunar -(More towns)
Step 5 The Bay of Bengal (Sea + End)
Well it may not be the most accurate depiction of a rivers course but in my mind it is sufficient.
Of course the best way to see where the Ganges river is by using a map of the River Ganges.
I hope this answers your question Rebecca. You can find out more information on the River Ganges by looking at more information about the Ganges River, the slowly disappearing Ganges river Dolphin and what's killing the Ganges river day by day at Ganges River Pollution.
