And the answer

Hi Tony,

Thanks very much for asking this question about travel during Indian monsoon, it's something that I get asked a lot here and I know that this answer will be helpful for lot's of other people.

India is generally a very dry place except for a couple of months towards the end of the summer when it rains a lot. Travelling during this period is extremly different to travelling during the winter months not only because of the climate but because of the very different choice of places you have.

Most of the tourist hotspots are generally abandonded and boarded up except for a small hardcore of travellers. Travel The rain and the heat can be oppressive to say the least but that's not to stop you from having the time of your life. Wheras in the summer you'll generally visit places like Rajasthan, Goa, Mumbai etc, in the winter places like, Bharatpur,Damdama and the southern states fro example Kerala and cities like Mysore, Munnar and Cochin (Kochi).
